Exclusive: Luton Town agree to sign striker from EFL club

Luton Town have agreed a deal to sign MK Dons striker Sam Nombe in a last-gasp loan move, Football Insider understands.

The Hatters had been in the market for attacking recruits ahead of today’s 5pm deadline and identified the 21-year-old hitman as a possible recruit with good potential for the future.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Luton have had a loan bid accepted by the League One outfit and that the temporary deal is set to be completed imminently.

The promising striker, a graduate of MK Dons’ youth system, has been a first-team regular this season and has sat out just one game from a possible eight across all competitions so far.

He made his debut for the League One side in a League Cup win over Forest Green Rovers back in August 2018 and he has gone on to make 46 appearances for the club.

Nombe, who has cut his teeth on loan with Oxford City and Maidenhead United in non-league football, spent the entirety of last season among the senior side at the Stadium MK.

He started 14 times in 25 appearances and managed to chip in with five goals and two assists.

His performances with the Dons have caught the eye of Luton boss Nathan Jones, who has moved quickly to strike a last-minute loan deal on deadline day.

The Hatters have made a bright start to the new campaign, with three wins and a defeat under their belts so far, but have been looking to bolster their firepower after scoring just five goals.
