Medical booked: Sheffield Wednesday agree to sign regular scorer - Sources

Cardiff City defender Aden Flint is set to undergo a medical with Sheffield Wednesday today after the two clubs agreed a loan deal, Football Insider understands.

As revealed by this site last week, the 31-year-old was wanted by both the Owls and Championship rivals QPR ahead of today’s 5pm domestic transfer deadline.

A source at Hillsborough has told Football Insider that Wednesday have agreed terms over a temporary move and that Flint is on his way to undergo the necessary tests and finalise the deal.

The giant centre-back, who joined Cardiff back from Middlesbrough last summer, has tumbled down the pecking order in south Wales and is not in Neil Harris’ plans moving forward.

He played 30 times across all competitions for the Bluebirds last season, with four goals and six assists to his name, but did not feature in the Championship after New Year’s Day.

Flint has a hugely impressive goal-scoring record for a defender and was at his most prolific with Bristol City where he netted 38 goals in 256 appearances, including a hat-trick against Walsall in 2015.

Having been left out of all of Cardiff’s league fixtures this season, the defender is now set to move across the Championship to join Sheffield Wednesday for the rest of the campaign.

Manager Garry Monk is looking to add proven second-tier experience to his squad on deadline day as the Owls look to overcome their 12-point deduction to survive this term.

In other Sheffield Wednesday news, it can be REVEALED that the club have turned down two bids from Brentford for a fans’ favourite.
