Revealed: West Ham on course to land £65m windfall - £40m already in the bank

West Ham will have banked nearly £65million in Uefa payouts since 2021 if they go on to win the Europa Conference League, Football Insider analysis shows.

A 1-0 second-leg win gave the Hammers a 3-1 aggregate victory over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday (18 May), booking a place in the final against Fiorentina in Prague on 7 June.

Participation in the final has earned the East London side an extra £2.6m in prize money, rising to £4.3m if they win the competition.

That would take their total earnings from the Conference League to £17.25m for the season and also ensure qualification for next season’s Europa League.

Analysis conducted by this site based on official Uefa data shows that West Ham would trouser at least £19.7m from that competition.

With performance-related bonuses taken into account, that figure could rise substantially, just as it did when they reached the semi-finals in 2021-22.

They banked £27.75m before they were eventually beaten over two legs by Eintracht Frankfurt, who went on to lift the trophy in Seville.

That means that the club’s takings from European football since 2021 will total £64.7m before a ball is even kicked in next season’s campaign, with nearly £40m of that already secured.

The extra cash would also bolster the Hammers’ transfer budget ahead of next season given that they have failed to match their domestic performance of the last two seasons in 2022-23.

They will see out their league campaign with matches against Leeds United and Leicester City before they face Fiorentina in one of the biggest matches in their history next month.
