Leeds United told to 'kiss Illan Meslier goodbye' after source's £30m transfer reveal

Illan Meslier should ignore transfer rumours linking him with Tottenham, Chelsea and Man United this summer and stay put at Leeds United.

That is the opinion of former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Meslier’s options at Elland Road.

Football Insider sources revealed earlier this month (March 12) that Leeds have placed a £30million price tag on Meslier this summer.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from Yorkshire this season, with Tottenham, Man United and Chelsea all linked.

Meslier recently broke the record as the youngest Premier League goalkeeper to make 100 appearances in the top flight.

He also ranks fifth in the Premier League stats for saves made this season with 82 – only Vicente Guaita, Jordan Pickford, Bernd Leno and David Raya have made more.

McManus believes Meslier will undoubtedly leave if relegated, but otherwise should stay put to guarantee game time at Leeds.

“I think Leeds can tempt Meslier to stay if they survive relegation,” McManus told Football Insider.

“I’ve seen that he is the youngest goalkeeper in Premier League history to reach 100 appearances.

“He’s been fantastic for Leeds, started every game this season and is an exceptional young goalkeeper.

He’s breaking records at Elland Road, and he’s guaranteed to play if he stays put.

Will he be the first-choice at Man United, Tottenham or Chelsea? It’s tough to say.

“So I think he should stay put and play every match so Leeds is his best option.

But if Leeds do go down they can kiss him goodbye.
