Pundit makes 'huge' Man United 'collapse' claim

Man United will be “sore” from their Liverpool loss last week but will not suffer a “collapse” in the tail end of the season.

That is the view of former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about United’s response to their Liverpool humiliation..

The trip to Anfield last Sunday did not go to plan for the Red Devils, with Erik ten Hag’s side suffering a record-breaking 7-0 loss to arch-rivals Liverpool.

The Merseyside outfit scored six in a rampant second-half performance, with Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino on the scoresheet.

United followed the loss with a 4-1 victory over Real Betis and a hard-fought 0-0 draw to Southampton on Sunday after being reduced to 10 men following Casemiro’s dismissal.

Despite winning just two of their last five league games, McManus has backed United to turn it around and finish their season strong while “in the hunt” for more trophies.

I don’t think Man United will suffer a collapse this season,” McManus told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

The Liverpool game can be put down to a one-off – Gakpo was superb, Salah looked back to his best and Nunez was top-class.

The Real Betis game was huge for them to get back on track, and now with the Liverpool game, they can forget about it and move on.

They’ve taken a lot of criticism this season, especially their captain Bruno Fernandes, but they are still in the hunt for trophies and top four.

The Liverpool loss was a sore one for fans but they can still turn it around.”
