Dominic Calvert-Lewin: Everton talks could open in weeks - sources

Everton could open contract talks with striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the new year, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed last month (25 October) that the Toffees are not likely to consider any offers for reported Saudi Pro League target Calvert-Lewin, 26, in January.

The forward is Everton’s joint-top scorer this season after returning to full fitness.

Calvert-Lewin will enter the final 18 months of his deal in the January transfer window, and it is believed the Merseysiders have acknowledged a new contract may be in order.

The England international has notched four goals and one assist in 11 appearances across all competitions this season.

He has started each of the last six Premier League games after suffering a broken cheekbone earlier in the 2023-24 campaign.

The ex-Sheffield United man signed for Everton in 2016 and scored 63 goals in 216 total games for the club.

Calvert-Lewin is the key man for Sean Dyche’s side despite the summer signing of Beto for a reported potential fee of £25.75million.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (17 November) that Dyche wants to bring two new wingers to the club in January.

The Toffees boss is keen to add more creative flair to his side to better feed Calvert-Lewin.

Everton have been handed an immediate 10-point deduction after breaching Financial Fair Play rules – the biggest punishment in Premier League history.

The Merseysiders now sit 19th in the top flight and are two points from safety.

Dyche’s side are next in action against Man United on 26 November.
