Sources: Leeds to open Archie Gray talks after Liverpool development

Leeds United could soon open contract talks with in-demand starlet Archie Gray, sources have told Football Insider.

The 17-year-old has broken through at Elland Road this season following the Whites’ relegation to the Championship.

Gray has subsequently been widely linked with Premier League giants Liverpool.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (13 November) that Everton are also keen on the youngster and are tracking his progress.

It is believed Crystal Palace have also watched the England Under-19 international in action.

But a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Leeds are ready to do “everything they can” to keep Gray at the club.

His current contract, which is his first professional deal, is set to expire in June 2025.

The England Under-19 international is a key part of Daniel Farke’s side as they chase promotion back to the Premier League.

He has emerged as one of England’s most promising talents this term and has been a regular starter for the Whites.

Gray has played 17 times across all competitions, starring both in defensive midfield and at right-back.

The youngster was named on the bench in the Premier League back in 2021 but had to wait until the start of the 2023-24 campaign to make his professional debut.

He has continued a family dynasty at Elland Road – with father Andy and uncle Eddie both also plying their trade for the Yorkshire giants.

Leeds sit third in the Championship – eight points behind first and second place Leicester and Ipswich.

The Whites are next in action against Rotherham on 24 November.

In other news, Liverpool £30m defender offer would be accepted.
