Exclusive: Man United plot January swoop to sign goalscoring midfielder after £9m Arsenal bid

Manchester United are among the Premier League big guns joining Arsenal in the race to sign Hungary international Dominik Szoboszlai in January, Football Insider can reveal.

The 18-year-old is making a name for himself as one of Europe’s top young talents and is set to star for Red Bull Salzburg in their Champions League clash against Liverpool at Anfield tomorrow night.

A Man United source has told Football Insider the club will dispatch scouts to run the rule over Szoboszlai, who is also set to be watched by Manchester City and Chelsea.

This comes after Football Insider revealed that Arsenal watched him score in the opening Champions League clash against Genk and have reignited their interest ahead of the winter window.

Arsenal tried to sign Szoboszlai in the summer but were told they must pay £15million for the wonderkid after suggesting a £9million bid.

Szoboszlai is regarded as one of the best players in his age group across Europe after impressing for club and country during the last 12 months.

A host of Italian clubs, including Juventus, Inter Milan and Lazio, have all registered an interest in signing the teen.

RB Salzburg fended off the interest in Szoboszlai during the summer as they wanted to keep him for the group stages of the Champions League, but a move in January is firmly on the cards.

Szoboszlai has already been capped five times by Hungary, despite his tender age and the fact he does not even turn 19 until later this month.

He was a regular starter for RB Salzburg in the second half of last season, and has already scored three goals and supplied three assists from 10 matches in the new campaign.

In other Arsenal news, it can be REVEALED that the club have granted permission for one of their attackers to head to Premier League rivals ahead of January window.
