Sources: Man United to develop multi-club model under Sir Jim Ratcliffe and sign world's best young talent

Incoming Man United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is planning to develop a multi-club model which can rival Man City’s illustrious set-up, sources have told Football Insider.

Ratcliffe and his company INEOS are expected to run football operations at Old Trafford when a deal to purchase 25 per cent of the club is completed.

Currently, Man United are unable to sign international Under-18 players due to Brexit – and that is hugely affecting their ability to source and develop elite young talent.

As part of the first phase of the takeover, United will lay the foundations to take over smaller clubs abroad – and park talent overseas using a multi-club model like Man City.

The Premier League giants are currently losing out on the elite Under-18 talents, but a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Ratcliffe has the vision to change that.

It is believed he sees United as capable of heading a worldwide group of partner clubs.

INEOS and Ratcliffe already own Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice and Swiss side Lausanne – and those sides would be used by United to loan out their players.

Signing top talent from elsewhere would supplement what is already a successful Man United academy.

The Old Trafford club have developed the likes of Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Hannibal Mejbri into first-team stars.

Ratcliffe is also planning radical changes in the managerial hot seat.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (3 November) that he plans to sack Man United manager Erik ten Hag and replace him with Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi.

It is believed the 71-year-old is also keen to oversee a complete overhaul of the coaching set-up at Old Trafford.

United sit eighth in the Premier League having won five and lost five in their opening 10 league games.
