Pundit issues two-word verdict on Mohamed Salah quitting Liverpool after journalist's update

Paul Robinson has urged Liverpool not to sell Mohamed Salah to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said there is “no value” in allowing the 30-year-old to leave having just signed a new deal.

Salah has been far from his best for the Reds this season.

He has failed to score in his last five Premier League outings, including Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Wolves.

According to Goal‘s Neil Jones (2 February), PSG are interested in signing the Egypt international in the summer.

Salah’s contract at Anfield runs until the end of June 2025.

When asked by Football Insider if Liverpool should cash in on Salah if a sizeable bid arrives, Robinson issued a two-word verdict: “No way.

“He has only just signed a new deal. There is no value in letting him go.

“Historically, Liverpool have let big players go at the right time. You only have to see what they did with the [Philippe] Coutinho money.

“I do not think there is any value in allowing Salah to go though. He has been one of the best players in the world over the past five years.

“Yes, he has been out of sorts for a year. He has struggled since the African Cup of Nations but he is still a top player.

“Who would they get in to replace him? There is absolutely no way you get rid of him. I’d keep him until the end of his contract or sell him with a year to go.”

In other news, a source has revealed Liverpool are ready to sell Joel Matip and another star defender as total overhaul begins.
