Expert shares Alisson Becker claim as new Liverpool info emerges - 'without him...'
Paul Robinson “dreads to think” where Liverpool would be without Alisson Becker.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the 30-year-old has shown his class after being “tested” this season.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have had a torrid start to 2023 and currently lie ninth in the Premier League.
As revealed by ESPN (2 February), the Reds would be six points worse off was in not for VAR this season.
The Reds have seen four goals disallowed for their opponents by VAR – more than any other club.
When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to the stats, Robinson said: “At the end of the day, that is what VAR has been brought in to do.
“It is there to get decisions right. They may have six more points because of VAR but in that case it is doing its job. You can see how the table would be very different without those VAR decision.
“That does not take away from their poor form though. I dread to think where there would be without Alisson this season. They would certainly not have as many points.
“It is difficult to sometimes judge a goalkeeper at a top club because they only have to make one or two saves a game. They do not get to showcase their full ability. Alisson has been tested this year though. He has shown what a top-class goalkeeper he is.”
