Liverpool have 'huge' Mohamed Salah 'problem' as Klopp fumes - pundit

Paul Robinson has claimed Mohamed Salah’s form for Liverpool “is a huge problem”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the 30-year-old has been off the boil for the past 12 months.

Salah failed to find the back of the net in Liverpool’s 2-1 loss to Brighton on Sunday (29 January).

The Egypt international has scored just once in six appearances in 2023.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo (30 January), Jurgen Klopp was visibly angry with Salah in the first half of the FA Cup clash at Brighton.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Salah’s struggles, Robinson said: “It is a huge problem.

“He has not been at his best for at least a year now. We know that he is playing in a team that is struggling but that is not enough of an excuse for me. He has to take responsibility for part of that.

“His own performances are not up to the high standard he has set himself. Since the African Cup of Nation, he has not been the same player. He was unplayable in the first half of the season but he has been nowhere near that level since the AFCON.

“He has not started this season well. When you look at his form over a long period of time, it is a concern because he is not at the standard you’d expect.

“There was a lot of talk about his contract but that has been sorted for ages. That can no longer be a reason.”
