'100% leaving in January' - Man United fans suggest bust-up betwen Erik ten Hag and Raphael Varane

Man United fans are torn after Raphael Varane’s “shocking” performance against Copenhagen in the Champions League on Wednesday night (8 November).

The Red Devils slumped to the foot of Group A after a chaotic clash in the Danish capital, with a late goal from 17-year-old Roony Bardghji sealing a 4-3 win for the home side.

The fixture was littered with controversy, including Marcus Rashford’s contentious red card and questionable refereeing decisions, but the defeat leaves ten Hag with nine losses from 17 games this season.

Much focus was on Varane’s absence from the starting XI, but the Frenchman made his way into action in the 16th minute for the injured Jonny Evans.

As revealed by Football Insider (9 November), ten Hag is eager to keep Varane at amid interest from the Saudi Pro League ahead of the January window.

However, after a poor display and speculation over a row with the manager, Man United fans have taken to social media to discuss the centre-back, whose current deal of more than £300,000-a-week runs until the summer of 2025.

One fan claimed ten Hag was “clueless” for having issues with the four-time Champions League winner.

Some fans speculated that ten Hag was having “beef” with more than just Varane while slamming the Dutchman’s man-management skills.

Some fans sided with ten Hag and claimed that his decision to bench the World Cup winner was obvious after being “really horrible” against Copenhagen.

This supporter, referencing Jose Mourinho’s superior United record before his sacking, questioned if the current boss had lost the dressing room.

This supporter is no fan of the “clueless” Varane and claims he doesn’t want to be at the club anymore, while ten Hag is unable to control his players.

This fan is adamant that some behind-the-scenes issues with the manager could see Varane depart soon.
