Sources: Rangers board thrilled as multiple new deals agreed

Rangers’ board are thrilled that six rising stars have agreed their first professional contracts with the club, sources have told Football Insider.

The Gers’ hierarchy have had some major PR setbacks in recent years with top talents snubbing the club’s offers and opting to head down south for glamorous deals with Premier League clubs.

In a huge boost, Football Insider broke the news on Thursday that Cameron Scott is now set to stay at Ibrox after flirting with Premier League clubs, including Southampton.

He has agreed his first pro deal, which will run for three years until 2026.

In addition to Scott, Football Insider revealed that Christopher Eadie, Lewis Stewart, Alfie Halliwell, Joshua Gentles and Lancelot Pollard are expected to sign their new deals on Sunday (12 February).

This is a major boost for Ibrox chiefs, who put so much store in bringing through top young talents, especially from Scotland.

Rangers have only handed out five pro contracts in the last two years to academy prospects.

Eadie turns 16 this month and has been described as a “leading light” in the academy having already been moved up to make a handful of appearances for the Under-18s this season.

Defensive midfielder Stewart was also described as “one to watch” from the Rangers academy after an impressive season with the Under-17s.

Halliwell is the Under-17s goalkeeper and has also gathered international experience with two caps for Scotland’s Under-16 side.

Similarly, Under-17s hitman Gentles has been called up by Wales’ Under-16s this season.

Rangers beat Liverpool and Man United to the signing of Pollard, 15, who only joined the Gers in May.

Billy Gilmour and Rory Wilson are just two such examples of top talents leaving Glasgow for the Premier League with the duo joining Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively.
