Glasgow pundit issues 'massive' Celtic claim as Aaron Mooy footage emerges

Alan Hutton has praised Ange Postecoglou for giving Aaron Mooy enough time to settle in at Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers defender said players at both Glasgow clubs are expected to hit the ground running instantly but insisted they need enough time to bed in.

As shown on Sky Sports (5 February), Mooy chipped St Johnstone goalkeeper Remi Matthews to put the Hoops 3-1 up before half time in the Scottish Premiership clash on Sunday.

The Celts went on to win the game 4-1 and remain nine points clear at the top of the league.

The 32-year-old has now scored six goals for Ange Postecoglou’s side in his last nine games.

The Australia international joined the Hoops in the summer on Postecoglou’s recommendation and took a while to settle in to the side but is now a fan favourite.

When asked how important it is to give players enough time to bed in at a new club, Hutton told Football Insider:

I think it is a massive part of it and it is definitely important,” he told Football Insider.

But, we understand that when you play for Rangers and Celtic they want to see instant results. When they sign a player they want them to hit the ground running.

He has needed time because he had not played a lot of football before that. The manager put a lot of trust in him, he knew him as a player and knew what he was capable of.

I think giving him that time to settle in, we are now seeing the best of him. I thought on Sunday he was excellent. Not only his goal but his all over play, how hard he works, his vision. It is all there.

He is really going from strength to strength and he is a key part of that Celtic midfield now.
