Liverpool tipped to submit '£60m' Caicedo bid after Sky update - pundit

Paul Robinson has suggested Liverpool may be forced into a big-money bid for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo this month.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said Jurgen Klopp’s side cannot lose out on the 21-year-old to Chelsea.

Sources told this site on 7 January that Caicedo would jump at the chance to join move to Anfield in the January transfer window.

According to Sky Sports (18 January), Chelsea want to beat Liverpool to the signing of the Ecuador international.

It was reported on Thursday night that the Londoners submitted a £55million bid this week for Caicedo that was rejected by Brighton.

Chelsea manager Graham Potter worked with Caicedo at Brighton and knows his game well.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest, Robinson said: “Caicedo is a marvellous player.

“I’ve watched in a person a couple of times this season and I was extremely impressed. He plays well beyond his years. I can’t believe he is just 21.

“If Chelsea are going make a move Liverpool should do the same. They do not want to miss out on him.

“He is just the kind of player Jurgen Klopp needs. They are lacking a bit of bite in their midfield. Caicedo would bring that.

“It will not be cheap though especially if Chelsea are interested. We are going to be talking about £60million at least. Brighton are not in a position where they need to sell and they won’t sell unless the money is too good to turn down. We all saw what happened with [Marc] Cucurella.”

In other news, Robinson fumes as controversial Trent Alexander-Arnold footage emerges from Liverpool.
