Robinson issues 'huge' claim on ex-Leeds man replacing David Moyes at West Ham

Paul Robinson has urged West Ham not to appoint Carlos Corberan if they decide to part ways with David Moyes.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said it would be “a huge risk” if the Hammers appointed Corberan, 39.

Corberan has helped West Brom complete a miraculous turnaround this season.

The Baggies have climbed to sixth in the Championship under the Spanish manager’s guidance.

According to The Sun (10 January), West Ham are keeping a close eye on Corberan with a view to him potential succeeding Moyes at the London Stadium.

Moyes is under extreme pressure following a torrid run of form in the Premier League.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the news, Robinson said: “It would be a huge risk.

“I would be very sceptical giving Corberan the job given the situation West Ham are in.

“Moyes is tried and tested in the Premier League. He puts in so many hours and he has such great knowledge.

“In my opinion, Corberan is inferior to Moyes. I think they would be asking for trouble if they appointed him. It should not even be a choice. They should keep David Moyes.

“West Ham need to stay in the league. I don’t think they will go down under Moyes. I know they are on a really bad run. Nobody expected this.

“But, they should not sack Moyes and appoint a Championship manager like Corberan. I don’t think that is the answer.”

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed West Ham could now strike £60m replacement deal as talks begin.
