Tottenham told to reject Bryan Gil offer after exit update - expert

Paul Robinson has tipped Tottenham to reject interest in Bryan Gil this January.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number said the 21-year-old has played his way into Antonio Conte’s plans.

Gil was a second-half substitute in Tottenham’s 2-0 loss to Arsenal on Sunday (15 January).

The Spanish winger impressed in starts against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace earlier in the month.

The Athletic reported on 4 January that Gil could depart Tottenham on loan this month.

However, Robinson is adamant Tottenham’s stance on a loan exit has now changed.

“Gil has really been impressive,” he told Football Insider.

“I thought he had been cast out and was destined to be loaned out in January. I am not sure that is the case anymore though.

“I think he has played himself into staying. Conte will want to keep him. Gil has taken advantage of the opportunities he’s been given.

“Prior to the World Cup, I think Conte would have happily loaned him out in January. He has played himself into the manager’s thoughts though.

“He will not be a regular starter but he will compete for those front three positions. Richarlison and [Dejan] Kulusevski are probably not 100 per cent fit yet.”

Gil joined Spurs from Valencia in July 2021 for a fee of over £20million.

He has made 30 appearances across all competitions for the Lilywhites.

In other news, an expert has told Tottenham to U-turn on Brentford’s David Raya and sign 22-year-old instead after update.
