Pundit names ideal Frank Lampard replacement after Everton reveal - 'they'll be safe in six weeks'

Paul Robinson has claimed Sean Dyche would be the ideal appointment at Goodison Park should Everton depart with Frank Lampard.

However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the Toffees should stick with Lampard.

Lampard’s position on Merseyside is under scrutiny following a torrid run of form over the festive period.

In an open letter to fans (11 January), owner Farhad Moshiri backed his under-fire manager to turn the club’s fortunes around.

Ex-Burnley boss Sean Dyche is the bookmakers favourite to replace Lampard.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest, Robinson said: “I don’t think Frank has lost the team.

“They were terrible against Brighton. They looked devoid of ideas but they were a lot better at Man United and let’s not forget the result they got at Man City. It is not all doom and gloom.

“You cannot say that the players are not performing for the manager. I think it is unfair to talk about replacing him.

“The January transfer window will be key for them. They have a real decision to make. Do they back Frank? Or do they bring a new manager in and allow him to shuffle the squad before the end of the window?

“The owners could panic because they want to stay in the Premier League. If Frank does go, there is no better replacement than Sean Dyche.

“He would keep them up with the players they have there. His man-management and organisation would see them safe in six weeks.”

In other news, a source has revealed Everton have set their sights on two forward deals as talks open.
