Liverpool backed for 'over the odds' Moises Caicedo bid after source's update - 'wow', says pundit

Paul Robinson has claimed Liverpool will have to pay “over the odds” if they want to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the Seagulls are in a strong position when it comes to the 21-year-old.

Caicdeo is being tracked by a number of Premier League clubs after an impressive 12 months on the south coast.

Sources told Football Insider on 7 January that Caicedo would jump at the chance to move to Anfield this year.

The centre-midfielder has two-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract.

When asked by Football Insider if Caicedo would be a welcome addition on Merseyside, Robinson said: “Now, he really is a good player.

“I’ve watched him first-hand two or three times this year and wow, I really like what I have seen.

“Brighton are not in a position where they need to sell. If anybody wants one of their players they will sell at the right price but they will demand the fee that they want. Caicedo is under a long-term contract and he is just 21 so he is worth a lot of money.

“There will be a bidding war for him. Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea – I’m sure they are all interested in him.

“They will have to pay a premium though because it is Brighton. The way that they operate they do not sell their best players on the cheap. They have shown that time and time again. The structure is right there.

“Caicedo is very highly-rated and if he is sold he will be sold for over the odds I imagine.”
