Everton backed to complete 'amazing' Danny Ings signing after source's reveal - Robinson

Paul Robinson has claimed Danny Ings would be “an amazing signing” for Everton this month.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said Frank Lampard’s side are “in desperate need” of a new centre-forward.

The Toffees have struggled for goals this season and currently sit 18th in the Premier League table.

According to the Daily Mail‘s Dominic King (4 January), Everton have had a bid to sign Ings on loan rejected by Aston Villa.

The Midlands club would apparently only let the striker leave on a permanent deal.

Sources have told Football Insider (12 January) that Everton want two forward signings this month.

When asked by Football Insider if Ings would be a welcome addition at Goodison Park, Robinson said: “Everton have got to be clever in the market because of Financial Fair Play.

“Ings would be an amazing signing for them if they can get him at the right price. They desperately need additions at the top end of the field.

“Demarai Gray, Dwight McNeil and Anthony Gordon aren’t chipping in with enough goals. They are not goalscorers really.

“[Dominic] Calvert-Lewin is out of form. He is in a similar situation to Patrick Bamford. He has struggled with injuries and fitness and when he has played he has flattered to deceive.

“[Neil] Maupay is not going to get them goals. He was not a sufficient replacement for Richarlison really.

“Ings guarantees goals. The problem is, Everton don’t create that many chances.”
