Robinson issues three-word verdict on Liverpool tabling big-money Josko Gvardiol bid after stance revealed

Paul Robinson has claimed there is “not a chance” of Josko Gvardiol getting his dream move to Liverpool in the summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said Jurgen Klopp’s priority is two sign two midfielders.

As quoted by Eurosport (7 January), Gvardiol, 20, has named Liverpool as his “dream club” when speaking about the transfer speculation surrounding his name.

A number of Europe’s top clubs are keeping tabs on RB Leipzig defender following his impressive performances for Croatia at the World Cup.

Gvardiol has four-and-a-half years remaining on his contract in Germany.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the potential arrival of Gvardiol at Anfield, Robinson issued a three-word verdict: “Not a chance.

“I think he is trying to talk himself into a move to a club he wants to play for. That is what it looks like to me.

“Liverpool’s priorities lie elsewhere. They are lacking in midfield, not at centre-half.

“They already have [Joe] Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, [Ibrahima] Konate and Nat Phillips. Why would they spend a large chunk of their budget on another centre-half? They have more than enough.

“To me, it looks like Gvardiol is trying to hand pick the team that he wants to go and play for. Liverpool’s priority is to strengthen their midfield. Given the contract situations they need at least two midfielders to come in.”
