Sources: Everton in advanced talks to agree deal with controversial Aston Villa partner

Everton are in advanced talks with Castore over a kit manufacturer deal, sources have told Football Insider.

The Toffees are currently partnered with Hummel, but their agreement with the Danish sports brand is set to expire at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Hummel’s current deal with Everton is understood to be worth £8million per season – a higher fee than Castore currently pays any of their client clubs.

Castore are currently facing criticism from Aston Villa after players raised concerns about the quality of their 2023/24 kits.

Players from both the men’s and women’s teams complained that the new kits weighed them down because of their ‘wet-look’ design.

As revealed by Football Insider on Thursday (28 September), Villa are now searching for an exit route in their £4million Castore agreement.

Castore have also faced criticism from other client clubs including Rangers, Wolves and Newcastle United.

The Magpies have cut ties with Castore by triggering an early exit clause and have since struck an agreement with Adidas for the 2024/25 campaign.

But despite a number of clubs dropping their partnership with the UK brand, Everton are in advanced talks to become the latest Premier League side in Castore’s portfolio.

An agreement with Castore could be the first commercial deal struck by 777 Partners if their takeover of the Merseyside club is approved by the Premier League.

The US investment group are on the brink of replacing Farhad Moshiri as owner of the Toffees in a deal worth more than £550million.
