Exclusive: Chelsea accelerate talks over £120m+ deal after Newcastle United collapse

Chelsea are already in talks with potential partners over a front-of-shirt sponsorship deal starting in 2024/25, Football Insider has been told.

The Blues announced a sponsorship deal with Infinite Athlete this week after waiting weeks for Premier League approval.

However, the deal with the US company is understood to only be a short-term agreement, leaving Chelsea in need of a new sponsor from 2024 onwards.

Football Insider has been told by sources that Chelsea have already begun the process of finding a new sponsor after deeming this summer’s business a ‘mistake’.

The London club started their 2022/23 campaign without a sponsor after seeing a number of deals collapse.

Chelsea held talks with Paramount Plus, Allianz and Stake over potential sponsorship deals, but all negotiations collapsed.

A deal is now in place with Infinite Athlete, but Chelsea are concerned that their handling of the situation almost saw them lose value on the agreement because of the delay.

Chelsea were keen to improve on the £40million-a-year, multi-year valuation of their previous deal with Three.

However, Chelsea’s asking price of more than £120m for the entire package proved a problem for many potential partners because of their lack of European football and they came close to losing out on the revenue boost entirely.

It is understood that Saudi Arabian airline Riyadh Air is one party in contact over a potential sponsorship deal starting in 2024/25.

They were previously linked to sponsorship with Newcastle United before the Tyneside club partnered with Sela this summer.
