Revealed: Everton handed £82m transfer boost after latest done deal
Everton ended the summer transfer window having provided an £82million boost to the club’s finances, Football Insider can reveal.
On paper, the Toffees’ transfer spend was reported at £35million after bringing Beto, Chermiti, Arnaut Danjuma, Ashley Young and Jack Harrison to Goodison Park.
However, as revealed by The Athletic, the only transfer payment set to be paid by Everton this fiscal year is the £3million loan fee to Villarreal for Danjuma.
Instalments over Beto’s £26million move aren’t set to begin until next year – the same with Chermiti’s £10.7million move from Sporting Lisbon.
Everton’s finances will be boosted by the £45million generated from player sales and £40million drop in wages, with the only outgoings being Danjuma’s £3million loan fee.
Alex Iwobi’s £22million move to Fulham late in the window was Everton’s biggest sale of the window, while sales of academy stars Tom Cannon and Ellis Simms also provided significant funds.
Andros Townsend, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Yerry Mina and Tom Davies all left the club without bringing in any fees, but the removal of their wages is crucial for the Merseyside outfit.
