Revealed: Rangers set for £25m+ payout - £4.3m already heading to Ibrox

Champions League qualification would earn Rangers around £25million this season, Football Insider can reveal.

The Scottish giants are on the verge of reaching the Champions League group stages with a crucial play-off match against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night.

Michael Beale’s side left Ibrox last week with the score at 2-2 and will travel to the Netherlands knowing there is only one spot up for grabs in the group stage.

As per official Uefa documents released in July, a pool of £26million is attributed to play-off losers – Rangers would receive a payment of £4.3million if they taste defeat on Wednesday.

However, group stage qualification is worth an immediate £13.5million to the winner.

With six group stage games then guaranteed, Rangers could add to their prize money with each win worth £2.4million and each draw worth £800,000.

Should Beale lead the Ibrox side to the round of 16, he will earn the club an extra £8.2million payment from Uefa.

Rangers would also receive money based on their Uefa coefficient, which is based on European success over the last 10 years.

Despite having only competed in Europe in the last five seasons, Rangers rank 58th in the coefficient table which is worth around £2-3million upon qualification.

Scottish sides are also granted a market pool payment as part of their broadcast agreement with English sides and BT Sport.

UK clubs were granted market pool payments of £57million last season, but only £6million was split between the two Scottish sides.

Finally, qualification would guarantee three European matches being hosted at Ibrox which would bring the club additional matchday revenue including extra hospitality sales.

Overall, Football Insider calculates that Champions League qualification would eventually earn Rangers over £25million for the 2023/24 season.

Gers kick off against PSV at 8pm on Wednesday evening at the Philips Stadion.
