Sources: Chelsea finalising Oman deal after £40m talks collapse

Chelsea are set to finalise a commercial deal with Oman Air but not as a front-of-shirt sponsor, Football Insider understands.

The Blues have been on the lookout for a new shirt sponsor ahead of the 2023/24 season, with their agreement with Three expiring this summer.

The London club held talks with a number of suitors, including Allianz and Paramount Plus, although the latter was blocked by the Premier League over concerns it could upset broadcasters in the top flight.

Chelsea also entered talks with online casino company, Stake, over a potential £40million per season deal, but have since decided to pull out of talks after facing backlash from supporters.

Football Insider revealed on 16 June that Chelsea were in advanced talks with Stake despite the Premier League voting to ban gambling sponsors from 2026 onwards.

Todd Boehly’s side has now turned their attention towards airline company Oman Air as a new commercial partner.

Leaked images circulated on social media showing the two parties signing a deal, with Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino present in the photos.

Football Insider understands that Oman Air is set to become a major partner of Chelsea, but will not appear on the club’s kit.

Chelsea will continue to hold talks with other parties over shirt sponsorship, with the London club eager to match the £40million value of their previous Three deal.

The club is now hesitant to partner with gambling companies following the backlash from discussions with Stake but understands their lack of Champions League football next season could make it difficult to strike a £40million deal.
