Revealed: Man City hit jackpot with £840m Sheikh Mansour boost

The difference in investment between the Glazers at Man United and Sheikh Mansour at Man City in the past decade is a staggering £840million, Football Insider can reveal.

While the Glazers are on the verge of selling the Red Devils for a record-breaking takeover fee, their arch-rivals City sit at the top of the European tree having completed a historic treble last season.

United’s fans have regularly protested their club’s ownership under the Glazer family since their acquisition of the club in 2005.

The American owners have taken dividends out of the club on a regular basis without investing any further cash during their time in charge.

In contrast, Mansour has funded City’s rise to the top after taking over the club in 2008, financing player moves and investing in infrastructure around the club.

As per United’s financial accounts submissions, the Glazers’ net owner contribution sits at negative £155million over the past decade.

In contrast, City’s accounts show that their owners have a net owner contribution of £685million in the same period of time.

As reported by The Athletic, the Glazers’ net owner contribution is statistically the lowest in the league over the past five years.

The Glazers have also amassed £550m of debt at Old Trafford during their 18 years at the club, which will need to be addressed by the new potential owners of the club.

City, on the other hand, have just £64million worth of debt to their name.
