Revealed: Bill Kenwright 24 hours from Everton exit amid £150m reveal - sources

Everton are expected to announce the departure of chairman Bill Kenwright within the next 24 hours, sources have told Football Insider.

The Toffees lost three board members on Monday (12 June) with chief executive, Denise Barrett-Baxendale, chief finance and strategy officer, Grant Ingles, and non-executive director Graeme Sharp all leaving their roles.

It is understood that Kenwright will be the next to head for the exit at Goodison Park to continue the mass board exodus.

Everton fans have frequently protested against the club’s board and owner Farhad Moshiri, and change is now taking place after narrowly surviving relegation this season.

It is believed that the delay behind Kenwright’s departure is to allow the 77-year-old to be involved in the appointment process of interim boardroom staff before stepping down.

Everton’s official announcement read: “A statement will be made about interim appointments and the future of the Chairman in the next 48 hours.”

Kenwright’s imminent departure paves the way for Everton to announce investment from US-based MSP Sports Capital, who are set to inject around £150million into the club.

The funds will be used to help finance the club’s construction of the Bramley Moore Dock Stadium, while MSP are set to be handed spaces on the club board in return.

MSP’s co-founders, Jeff Moorad and Jahm Najafi are expected to take up those roles and represent the club at boardroom level next season.

Everton investor Andy Bell is also in the running to become part of a new-look board at Goodison Park.
