Revealed: Celtic land £27m windfall - extra £6m bonus guaranteed

Celtic are set to earn around £33million from their 2023/24 Champions League campaign, Football Insider can reveal.

The Glasgow giants sealed their 53rd Scottish title this season, earning them direct qualification to the Champions League group stage.

The Scottish champions are set to bank £27million before a ball is even kicked, with extra prize money and matchday revenue up for grabs if they enjoy success in their group.

As per Uefa’s official distribution, Ange Postecoglou’s side are guaranteed a fixed payment of £13.6million for simply qualifying for the group stage.

Celtic are also set to earn a share of approximately £5million from Uefa’s coefficient payments.

Uefa’s coefficient system pays teams based on their success in Europe over the last decade – Celtic rank 40th in the 10-year standings.

Uefa also distributes a market pool of £260million between the 32 clubs based on the proportional value of broadcast deals.

This site’s analysis estimates that Celtic will receive around £8million in market pool payments – with a larger share received if Rangers fail to reach the group stage of the competition.

The £13.6million qualification payment, £5million from Uefa’s coefficient fees and £8million from the market pool means Celtic are set to earn £27million before a Champions League ball is kicked.

An extra £6million in matchday revenue is expected with Celtic Park set to host a minimum of three sold-out European home games.

Celtic’s prize pool could be inflated even further through success in the group stage, with Uefa awarding £2.1million per win, £800,000 per draw and a lump sum of £8.3million for reaching the round of 16.
