Revealed: Man United record-breaking £75m deal is secured after key development

Adidas will continue to pay Man United £75million per season after they secured Champions League qualification, Football Insider can reveal.

The Red Devils beat Chelsea 4-1 at Old Trafford on Thursday night to mathematically secure their spot in the Premier League’s top four.

United failed to qualify for the European competition last season, and a clause in their Adidas agreement means the value of their deal would have been significantly slashed if they once again failed to qualify.

As per United’s official 2022 annual report, there is a 30 per cent reduction in the value of Adidas’ kit provider deal if United don’t qualify in successive years.

That reduction would have seen United only earn £52.5million from their kit provider as opposed to the £75million they will now receive in 2023/24.

United signed a 10-year deal with the German kit providers in 2015, with the £750million valuation a record-breaking fee for a Premier League side.

The deal remains the highest-value deal of its kind in English football, with United’s arch-rivals Man City in second place after agreeing a 10-year deal with Puma worth £65million per season.

While United’s Adidas deal is settled, the Manchester club is still on the lookout for a new front-of-shirt sponsor after reaching an agreement to end their partnership with German software company TeamViewer.

The TeamViewer deal was worth £47million to United per season, but United are looking to increase that valuation in their next shirt sponsorship agreement.
