Agbonlahor issues Jesse Marsch sack ultimatum amid £128m Leeds United reveal

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch could face the sack if he cannot win at least two of the club’s next five Premier League games.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Whites “can’t afford” to be relegated from the top flight.

Leeds United drew 0-0 at home against Brentford on Sunday (22 January), meaning they have still won just twice since August.

The Whites are 15th in the Premier League table and are outside the drop zone by just a point.

They face Nottingham Forest, Man United twice, Everton, and Southampton in their next five league games.

As per Transfermarkt, the January signings of Georginio Rutter and Max Wober have brought their spending for the 2022-23 season to almost £128million.

Frank Lampard became the Premier League’s latest managerial casualty on Monday (23 January) after 19th-place Everton chose to part with him.

When asked if Marsch is the next manager in danger if results don’t change, Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think so.

“Leeds United were relegated a long time ago and it took them a long time to get back to the Premier League.

“They won’t accept a really close relegation battle.

“In the next five games, they need at least two wins – or Marsch will be in trouble.

“Leeds can’t afford to go down. Marsch has been given the money to spend, and now if the results don’t pick up – he’s in danger.”
