Sources: Burnley star Luke McNally completes Coventry City medical as deal finalised

Coventry City have finalised the signing of Burnley defender Luke McNally and an announcement is imminent, sources have told Football Insider.

The Championship club are poised to sign the centre-back, 23, on loan for the rest of the season.

It is believed that McNally has passed a Coventry medical and agreed the terms of the loan.

Coventry have beaten Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday to the capture of McNally.

The defender joined Burnley from Oxford United last summer, but he has found his first-team opportunities limited with the team flying high at the top of the Championship.

McNally has had to be extremely patient for opportunities at Turf Moor this season, with Vincent Kompany handing him just two minutes of first-team action in the Championship.

Both appearances came through extremely brief cameos from the bench, with the first coming against Watford in August while his second appearance came two months later against Sunderland.

McNally has been handed more minutes in both the FA Cup and EFL Cup, but he still has just 154 collective minutes played across all competitions this season.

Last season, McNally was a regular starter for Oxford United, playing over 2,500 minutes in League One across 30 appearances.

He also showed his eye for goal, scoring four times in the league for his former side, as well as assisting once.

McNally should find more opportunities available to him at his new club, with manager Mark Robins opting for a three-at-the-back system.
