'My God, there will be hell to pay' - McAvennie drops incendiary Rangers prediction

Rangers will lose their Scottish Cup semi-final clash against Hearts – and “there will be hell to pay”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie backed the Jambos over the “lacklustre” Gers even despite admitting Rangers should be beating them.

Philippe Clement’s side face Hearts at Hampden Park on Sunday (5 November), with this competition their best chance of silverware this season after Celtic were eliminated by Kilmarnock in the second round.

Clement remains unbeaten and enjoyed the Gers’ biggest win of the season on Wednesday (1 November) with a 5-0 victory against Dundee at Dens Park.

Hearts meanwhile sit in fourth place in the league table, but are still 10 points behind Rangers.

McAvennie predicted fans would go “ballistic” if Rangers lose despite the improved performances on the pitch.

“It’s lacklustre is what Rangers have been. Hearts will beat them,” he told Football Insider.

Granted some of the players haven’t been good enough for Rangers, I just think that team is good enough to beat Hearts.

“Fans will go ballistic [if they lose]. The pressure is on them to win, because Celtic are not in that tournament, they’re out.

“The fans will demand that they win this cup and if they don’t, my god there will be hell to pay.”

In other news, Rangers fans have reacted to a controversial Cyriel Dessers incident against Dundee.
