Michael Beale hated by Rangers dressing room after what McAvennie 'heard'

Michael Beale should “stick to what he’s good at” and go back to being a coach after his failed attempt to manage Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie has heard that there were problems in the dressing room whilst Beale was in charge at Ibrox.

The Gers confirmed that the 43-year-old has been relieved of his duties following a disappointing start to his first full campaign in charge.

Defeats to Kilmarnock, Celtic and Aberdeen – as well as crashing out of the Champions League at an earlier stage than last year – proved to be the nail in the coffin for Beale.

There was a sense of excitement among fans when the former QPR boss was appointed given his previous experience with the club, working as a coach under Steven Gerrard and was part of the staff that helped achieve their first league title in over ten years.

But McAvennie insisted all was not how it seemed behind the scenes.

I heard that the dressing room did not like him,” he told Football Insider.

He was a good coach when Steven Gerrard was there but sometimes you can get a bit too big. The bottom line was he was not good enough.

He was not good enough at QPR, he was not good enough at Rangers so I would stick to what he is good at and go back to coaching. He will get a job as a coach, Steven Gerrard will give him a good reference but as a manager, no.

In other news, former Premier League boss ‘keen’ to be next Rangers manager and right some wrongs.
