Man United need to get rid of “petulant wee boy” Bruno Fernandes as he does not have the right attitude to captain the side.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie has been hugely unimpressed by Fernandes and insisted he does not have what it takes to be the captain.

The 29-year-old took on the captaincy this term after Harry Maguire was relieved of the armband by Erik ten Hag.

The Red Devils have had a difficult start to the season and most recently lost 3-2 to Galatasaray in the Champions League, mooring them at the bottom of the group.

Erik ten Hag’s side have also lost four of their opening seven Premier League games and sit tenth in the top flight.

McAvennie claimed Fernandes is part of the problem at Old Trafford.

I would get rid of Fernandes,” he told Football Insider.

He is not a captain for me he is like a petulant wee boy. When he does not get his own way he shouts and bawls and cries.

I look at the likes of Roy Keane as captain and that flinging your arms around and complaining is not what a captain of Man United does.

I just do not think the players care enough, I think there is that much money that they just do not care if they are winning or not. I hate to say that but why else has every good manager failed?
