'Career definer', 'He's almost certainly going to lose a yard', - Tottenham fans react to 'disaster' Van de Ven injury news after 4-1 Chelsea defeat

Tottenham fans are devestated after Micky van de Ven’s first-half injury against Chelsea on Monday night (6 November).

The Dutchman went down clutching his hamstring just before the the break and was forced out of play in a huge blow for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

After the game, the Aussie shared that the van de Ven’s injury is a “pretty serious one”, giving Spurs fans fresh anxiety about their title chances this season.

Tottenham were level at 1-1 when the 22-year-old left the field, but a Nicolas Jackson hattrick in the second half gave Chelsea an important 4-1 win and broke Spurs’ unbeaten run in the Premier League.

Spurs also lost Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie to suspension at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which leaves Postecoglou with limited options.

While Spurs failed to get back to the top of the table, most fans are more fearful of how van de Ven’s injury could impact the side long-term.

One fan suggested that his injury could be a “career definer”.

Other fans were concerned with how the incident could impact van de Ven’s rapid pace due to the nature of the injury.

One fan tipped van de Ven as their player of the season so far and claimed the long-term absence was the “saddest part” of the fixture.

One fan claimed Eric Dier could be an adequate replacement for him despite his lack of game time and could be a good way around the “costly” injury.

This supporter noted how hamstring injuries can often mean players are never the same after returning and cited another unfortunate Tottenham star.
