Kieran Maguire drops verdict on Michael Beale compensation fee after Rangers sack

Michael Beale’s compensation fee at Rangers will be ‘significant’ after he was sacked by the Glasgow giants.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the financial impact of sacking Beale.

Rangers announced last Sunday (1 October) that they have parted ways with Beale just 10 months after he joined the club as manager.

The 3-1 loss to Aberdeen was Beale’s last match in charge of the club, and the defeat left Rangers 10 points behind Celtic in the league table after just seven matches.

Gers paid £1.5million to hire Beale from QPR last November, while the club also paid former manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst £3.5million in compensation payments.

Football Insider revealed on Sunday (8 October) that Rangers have made a multi-million pound payout to sack Beale.

Maguire believes a ‘significant’ compensation fee is heading Beale’s way, but insists that he was not the ‘biggest problem’ at Ibrox.

It’s likely to be a significant compensation fee to have sacked Michael Beale,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

Rangers also had to pay compensation to QPR when they recruited Beale and that was a seven-figure sum.

“It’s part of football.

The result in the Europa League indicates that Beale was not Rangers’ biggest problem currently.

The actual compensation fee will come down to the small print and how desperate he was to take the job – he may have agreed to a settlement figure.

He also has an obligation to try to find alternative employment so that will be a factor.
