Tottenham sources: Postecoglou priority January signing revealed

Ange Postecoglou is keen to add another centre-back to his Tottenham squad in January, sources have told Football Insider.

Cristian Romero and summer signing Micky van de Ven have built a formidable partnership at the heart of the Spurs defence, but Postecoglou is ready to add further reinforcements.

It is believed Tottenham wanted to sign an additional centre-back in the main window, but the right opportunity didn’t arise before the 1 September deadline.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (29 September) that Fulham ace Tosin Adarabioyo and Bayer Leverkusen star Edmond Tapsoba were on the shortlist for Spurs.

The Lilywhites could go back in for Adarabioyo in January when the centre-back will have just six months left on his contract at Fulham.

Tapsoba is seen as a more premium option by club chiefs and could come with a much heftier price tag, especially in the mid-season window.

Eric Dier could be allowed to leave the club in January in order to free up space and wages for a new arrival.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (30 September) that Dier is likely to seriously consider a potential reunion with Jose Mourinho at Roma.

The Italian giants have been linked with the England international in recent days.

Dier is yet to play a minute for Spurs under Postecoglou.

Tottenham also have Ashley Phillips and Ben Davies to call on in the centre-back area.

Postecoglou’s side, who face Liverpool on Saturday (30 September) have picked up 14 points from a possible 18 so far this season.
