Sources: Tottenham make decision on activating Nelsson's £26m release clause

Tottenham have no interest in signing Galatasaray defender Victor Nelsson in January, sources have told Football Insider.

Spurs have been widely linked with the Denmark international, with some reports suggesting they are set to activate his £26million release clause.

But it is believed that Nelsson, 25, is not on Tottenham’s radar as the winter window approaches.

The defender was a key man for Galatasaray as they won the Super Lig title in the 2022-23 campaign.

He has made 13 appearances across all competitions for the Istanbul-based giants this term, including in the Champions League.

Nelsson’s contract runs until June 2026 after he joined from FC Copenhagen in 2021.

The 10-cap Denmark star has racked up 93 total appearances for Galatasaray, notching two goals and one assist.

Tottenham are keen to add another centre-back to their squad despite Cristian Romero and summer signing Micky van de Ven building a formidable partnership under new boss Ange Postecoglou.

Football Insider revealed on 30 September that Postecoglou has made a new centre-back his priority target in January.

Sources have also told Football Insider (23 October) Tottenham are among the sides monitoring Club America defender Sebastian Caceres – who has impressed for Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguay.

The Lilywhites are early title contenders in the 2023-24 campaign and are yet to taste defeat in the Premier League.

Spurs sit on 26 points ahead of their clash with Chelsea next Monday (6 November).
