Hutton shares Dallas verdict after big Leeds development - 'I would be absolutely devastated'

Leeds United should be “happy” to renew Stuart Dallas’ contract – and he will be “absolutely devastated” if he doesn’t get one.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton praised the 32-year-old for his service to the club and claimed Dallas is useful in the dressing room.

The defender suffered a femoral fracture in May 2022 against Manchester City but finally returned to training in September after nearly 18 months on the sidelines.

Dallas has been at Elland Road since 2015, making 267 appearances and was pivotal in helping Leeds get back to the Premier League in 2020.

Hutton claims it’s a “no-brainer” for Leeds to renew his contract, which expires at the end of the season.

“Absolutely, no-brainer. He’s been there a long time, he’s been a great servant to the club,” he told Football Insider.

“It’s a serious injury and it’s going to take time to get back. I’ve been there myself, I broke my leg so I understand how long it takes.

“If I was in a situation like that, at a club I’ve where I’ve been there for a long time, and they were letting me go just as I was getting fit, I would be absolutely devastated.

“He knows the club inside out, he’s a good head in the dressing room. Why would you not welcome that back in?

“Both parties would be happy to renew the contract. I’d be very, very surprised if that didn’t happen.”

In other news, Leeds fans were outraged by Patrick Bamford’s “car crash” display against Leicester City.
