Hutton raves about three Rangers players who stood out in Philippe Clement's first game

Phillipe Clement enjoyed an impressive first outing as Rangers manager but still has a long way to go.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton was pleased with what he saw from Clement’s side in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Hibernian but insisted there are still areas that need attention.

The Belgian was in the dug out for his first match since being appointed Rangers boss on Saturday (21 October) and saw his side storm to victory against Hibs.

Speaking after the match, Clement acknowledged that there were players on the pitch who “need more time” but he was pleased with the reaction from his new side.

Hutton was also impressed by the reaction from the players.

I thought for the first outing under the new manager after having only had a few days to work with the team, you can see he wants to be defensively more solid,” he told Football Insider.

I thought the likes of [Abdallah] Sima and [Cyriel] Dessers, [Scott] Wright filled in defensively and helped out the full-backs when they have sometimes been left exposed.

You could see little tweaks that he has made. I thought there was some good build up play going forward and giving that confidence to Dessers to get that goal.

I think you can see good signs developing. There is still a long way to go, a lot of training to be done and things will improve.

In other news, Clement plotting to lure stars to Rangers in January he knows well.
