Sources: Man United make Marc Guehi 'No1 January target'

Man United are planning a January move for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi, sources have told Football Insider.

The centre-back, 23, is firmly on the radar of the Premier League giants ahead of the winter window.

A senior source has told Football Insider that Guehi is the “number one target” for United going into January.

The club are keeping close tabs on the England international and doing background checks.

Guehi has been almost ever-present for Crystal Palace this season, racking up 14 appearances across all competitions and playing 92% of the Eagles’ Premier League action.

The 23-year-old’s stellar performances since moving to Selhurst Park have earned him nine caps for England, with his international debut coming in March 2022.

He is a regular feature in Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions side ahead of next year’s European Championships in Germany.

Guehi has racked up 96 appearances across all competitions since joining Palace from Chelsea for a reported fee worth up to £20million.

His contract, which nets him a reported wage of £50,000-a-week, is set to expire in June 2026.

Football Insider revealed last month (19 October) that Roy Hodgson’s side are preparing to gauge Guehi’s interest in a potential new deal.

Man United are on the hunt for centre-back reinforcements amid injury to 2022 signing Lisandro Martinez.

Raphael Varane has also struggled for fitness and while he has returned to the fold at Old Trafford, he remains on the bench with Erik ten Hag choosing to start both Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

United are next in action against Galatasaray on Wednesday (29 November) with their future in the Champions League at stake.
