Sources: Leeds would accept 'right' Wilfried Gnonto offer

Leeds United are ready to allow Wilfried Gnonto to leave the club in January if the right offer arrives, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (6 November) that Gnonto, 20, is unhappy with his situation at Elland Road as the new year approaches.

The Italy international has started just one of Leeds’ last four Championship games and played just a minute in the win over Leicester last week (3 November).

It is believed the Whites would be open to allowing the attacker to move on in January – but would require their lofty valuation to be met.

They are, however, prepared to stand firm if that price tag is not met with promotion back to the Premier League the clear priority for Daniel Farke’s side.

Everton were strongly interested in Gnonto during the summer window, with the Italy international briefly going on strike in a bid to secure a move.

He was eventually restored to the squad but has played a limited role for Leeds so far in the 2023-24 campaign.

The forward has managed just one goal and one assist in 10 games across all competitions this season.

Gnonto missed four games with an ankle injury – with that problem also forcing him to miss Italy’s crucial qualifiers against Malta and England.

The ex-Zurich star is keen to maintain his place in the Azzurri squad ahead of next year’s European Championships in Germany – should the reigning champions qualify.

He is out of contract at Elland Road in June 2027 having only signed for the club in the Premier League last year (2022).

Leeds, who sit third in the Championship, are next in action against Plymouth on Saturday (11 November).
