Ex-Rangers star: Celtic have 'already won' Scottish Premiership title

Celtic have all but sealed their third successive Scottish Premiership title after their win against Motherwell on Saturday (30 September).

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton suggested the Hoops have proven themselves to be capable title-winners after their last-gasp win against Motherwell.

As shown on CelticTV (2 October), Matt O’Riley’s 97th minute goal sealed all three points for the Celts at Fir Park.

Luis Palma opened the scoring for Celtic late on in the game before Blair Spittal equalised five minutes into stoppage time before O’Riley salvaged all three points with his last-minute strike.

Hutton wasn’t suprised to see the Hoops securing the victory and claimed Rangers have a mountain to climb under caretaker boss Steven Davis, with the gap to their rivals already a gargantuan seven points.

I think this Celtic side are always capable,” he told Football Insider.

We saw it under Ange [Postecoglou] we went to the very last minute. We know this team can do it, yes they play slightly different, they try and control the game a little bit more but they are more than capable of taking games to the death.

I was not surprised. The goal they conceded was quite poor, coming from a throw in Scales maybe has to do better. But it is great character to continue to the 97th minute.

It was a good goal and Matt O’Riley is the kind of player you want on the end of it.

When you win these sorts of games, you think you are drawing and you win it last minute, that is a league-winning side. When you do not play to your very best but you still get a result away from home, with the lead it could be already won”.
