Matt O'Riley Celtic 'dream' coming true after latest news - pundit

Matt O’Riley’s confidence will be “through the roof” after recent Celtic performances.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton insisted O’Riley has earned a call up to the Denmark first team with the way he has been playing recently.

According to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph (25 September), Denmark are seriously considering promoting the 22-year-old to the senior team for the October international break.

The London-born midfielder qualifies to play for the Danes through his mother’s side of the family and has featured heavily for the national side at Under-21 level after spending several years with England’s Under-16s and Under-18s sides.

O’Riley has made seven appearances for the Hoops so far this season and is establishing himself as a firm favourite in midfield under Brendan Rodgers.

When asked how much a senior call up will boost O’Riley’s confidence, Hutton told Football Insider:It goes through the roof.

Ultimately that is what you want to be doing, playing international football at a high level. They are obviously a really good national side as well.

I remember my first call up to the first team squad, it is what you dream of and I am sure he is the same way.

It shows you where he is at right now in his career and that he can push to get in that squad because it is very difficult. He will only really go from strength to strength.
