Alan Hutton revealed he was impressed by Celtic summer signing Mohamed Elyounoussi following the winger’s debut in the 1-0 win over Hamilton.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Scotland and Aston Villa defender delivered his verdict on the 25-year-old following his Hoops debut and revealed that he believes he looks like a good prospect for Neil Lennon’s side.

Elyounoussi played 67 minutes of Celtic’s 1-0 win over Hamilton on Saturday and registered his first assist for the club by crossing the ball for James Forrest to slot home in the fourth minute.

Hutton admitted that Elyounoussi managed to impress in what was a tough game for Celtic as they had to cope with playing on an artificial pitch.

Asked if he looked an exciting signing for the Hoops, Hutton told Football Insider: “Yeah – it was a horrible game on the astroturf as usual, as it is always going to be a tough game as it adds to the game.”

“But yeah he played well, got an assist straight up, set up Forrest for the goal and he looks a good prospect.

“He probably wants to get his career back on track so he has gone up there to play some games, so he looks like being a good plus for the Celtic team.”

Elyounoussi signed for Celtic on a season-long loan from Southampton in the summer after managing to play only 19 times across all competitions for the Saints in his 2018/19 campaign.

The 25-year-old failed to register a goal or an assist for the south coast outfitin the Premier League before joining the Bhoys on a temporary basis.
