Alan Hutton has tipped Celtic winger James Forrest to join a Premier League club like Leicester City.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Rangers, Tottenham and Aston Villa defender revealed he is a big admirer of the reigning Scotland PFA player of the year.

Hutton hailed his former Scotland teammate as a “really nice guy” with the star quality to make it at a leading Premier League team.

The full-back, 34, explained how he would not be surprised to see Forrest, 28, link up again with former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers at the King Power Stadium.

Asked for his verdict on the Hoops winger, Hutton told Football Insider: “He seems to have been around forever – he’s still only young.

“Meeting up in the Scotland squad and things, he’s a really nice guy, down-to-earth. He’s one that’s got everything.

“I just see him maybe flourishing at a team like Leicester or maybe one of these type of teams – obviously a manager that knows him well. I really think he’s got everything that it takes to make it down in the big league.”

Forrest has developed into one of the most effective players in the SPL since graduating from the Celtic academy ranks.

He is a prolific scorer and creator of goals, including seven strikes and five assists from 13 matches this season after his award-winning 2018-19 campaign.
