'Wow' - Exclusive: Hutton drools over Aston Villa youngster he tips to reach the very top

Alan Hutton has hailed Aston Villa youngster Keinan Davis as a huge talent destined for the very top.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Villa defender explained how the striker blew the senior players at the club away after being fast-tracked into first team training at the age of 18.

Davis, 21, has played 47 times for the Midlands giants but most of his appearances have been as a substitute.

Hutton, who quit Villa this summer after eight years, is no doubt that Davis has a bright future ahead of him.

“I’m really impressed by him,” Hutton told Football Insider. “I can’t remember exactly what age he was when he signed but he was raw, don’t get me wrong he was raw, but ‘wow’ was he strong, powerful, and he’s grown into that kind of number 9 role.

“He’s went from being a raw player to calming himself down, holding people off, really understanding the position. He’s learnt a lot from training with us, it wasn’t just a training the odd day – he was training with us always, coming in the squads and stuff.

“I think he probably needs to go out on loan really to keep playing and earn his stripes if you like and get his game time up but I definitely think one for the future, he’s definitely got it all to be a top striker.”

Davis has played as a substitute in two of Villa’s four Premier League matches this season, including 30 minutes as a replacement for Wesley in the defeat to Crystal Palace before the international break.

The versatile forward, who also spearheaded the attack against Crewe Alexandra in the League Cup as he netted his fourth goal for the club, is in contention to figure in tonight’s home fixture against West Ham.

In other Aston Villa news, it can be REVEALED that Dean Smith has given the green light for the club to sell one of his signings.
