Pundit lambasts 'hopeless' Fabinho after Liverpool latest - 'in a bad way'

Liverpool should have signed a new midfielder in January to replace the “hopeless” Fabinho.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Liverpool only signed Cody Gakpo during the January transfer window despite constant questions over the club’s options in central midfield.

Fabinho, 29, is one Red star who has been criticised in recent weeks and was lucky to avoid a red card in January 29’s FA Cup loss to Brighton.

Wenham can’t believe Liverpool didn’t invest more during the winter window.

“Liverpool needed a midfielder,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“This idea that they will be relying on Naby Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain. These players aren’t good enough for Liverpool.

“Fabinho has fallen off a cliff in terms of his form. He was outstanding before but now he looks hopeless. He is a Titanic in the middle of the park, slow, cumbersome, getting in the way.

“He should have got a red card very early in that FA Cup game [v Brighton]. I don’t know what’s happened to him.

“Liverpool, they are in a bad way if I am being honest with you. I don’t see them getting in the top four this year.”

The victim of Fabinho’s challenge, Evan Ferguson was spotted leaving the Amex on crutches.

As per the BBC (30 January), the PGMOL has admitted the decision to award a yellow card was incorrect.

In other news, a pundit has claimed Liverpool have ‘huge’ Mohamed Salah ‘problem’ as Klopp fumes.
